What lurks behind the walls
Inside the space between the worlds
I wonder and dream of this
The shadows contained in that abyss
I feel drawn to the dark
And am compelled to obey
Mystery evades me
But we must find a way
To touch the night
To reach past the thresholds
Of this earthly plane
To see what is not..

To know the unreal
What's obscured and what's never known
That few have dreamed of
That cryptic space in between
In lucidity now I drift away
On a dreamlike quest of thoughts
To find what it is I seek..

What shifts under the surface?
How is it we came to be
A flux of depression and depravity
That persists eternally?
Between the realms..
These worldly things
Seem illusory,
I concentrate on the passage-
I see the gates before me
Tall and grim
None live within its chasms
Yet there is life
Mysterious
That breeding light in the darkness
The haunted reverie of drifting in time..
What shifts under the surface?
How is it we came to be
A flux of depression and depravity

Orbs drawn by luminous bindings

Gazing outwardly in desperation
Efforts feigned to understand our purpose

Ephemeral glow ever looming
Across the shimmering pools of time and fate
Until that bright light fades from view
All must vanish..

To return to where we come from..
To be taken by the land..

As it always did

We see his shadow often
Even in our minds

The black wings of night now part the mist
Raven swarm circling above
Auspicious..

Portents, identified
Grim fates are sealed in time
The ravens' wisdom never lies

What insight do the ravens hold
No one has ever known..
Forest of birch, standing so tall
Echoes still heard of the clarion call
Fog turns to dew on the leaves of the ferns
We live and die as the world ever turns
The omnipotent presence is that of the birds
That soar the sky truer than words
Misdoings of man to a world that they love
Are not lost to them as they circle high above..

The first time I heard this band was off their Heir of Ecliptical Romanticism, and I remember the riffs being the highlight of the album. This album is no different. The band just has a fuller sound with better production these days. Many of their tunes here remind me of early Satyricon. The classic heavy metal influences really make those riffs stick in your brain.
