Following the way of the river,
I reach a spring of waters black.
It is said that you can find her here,
Wandering the woods...
Sorceress of black spring,
Master of the forest...
Beguiled by her presence
And under her spell.
Dark queen of twilight,
Temptress of the fates -
I searched so long to find you
And still I wait...
At night I rest beneath the trees
And dream of things of old.
In the dusk she came to me
In the form of looming mist.
The coldness envelops me
As I feel her deathly kiss...
Sorceress of black spring,
Master of the forest...
Beguiled by her presence
And under her spell...
At break of dawn, she leaves me
And I remain here,
And feel the certain pain
I know all too well...
And still she walks
This lonesome wood.
To lure more souls
To be trapped here -
To know the pain of loss...
To feel cold and alone...
To shed the tears of longing...
To know that distance breaks the heart...
To have absolutely nothing...
To go without another...
To never trust anyone...
To live a life of woe...
To dread each minute...
To loathe oneself...
To know the anguish...
To feel the pain...
To detach entirely...
To have nothing to live for...
Nearly a decade after their last LP, the Chicago post-metal trio resurface with a punishing concept album set in an apocalyptic wasteland. Bandcamp New & Notable May 5, 2024

The first time I heard this band was off their Heir of Ecliptical Romanticism, and I remember the riffs being the highlight of the album. This album is no different. The band just has a fuller sound with better production these days. Many of their tunes here remind me of early Satyricon. The classic heavy metal influences really make those riffs stick in your brain. Bart
